Life-Changing Adventures at Camp Seymour
Since 1905, YMCA Camp Seymour has provided life-changing outdoor adventures for children and teens. We teach the importance of making genuine connections and offering positive role models to help campers navigate friendships and challenges while embracing the Y’s core values.
Units by Grade
Set against a stunning waterfront, our overnight programs offer a safe and fun experience for campers aged 8-18. With diverse activities from teen trips to leadership programs, every camper can grow, explore, and thrive at Camp Seymour.
Trailblazers: Entering Grades 3-4
The joy of newly found independence and budding friendships will be discovered for our youngest campers as they experience their first overnight camp. Campers choose their own adventure by focusing on sports activities, craft activities, or marine science activities. Rounding out the week, they will experience boating, climbing wall, games, crafts, or archery, further enhancing their skills and independence.
Explorers: Entering Grades 5-6
The Explorer experience is about campers being themselves and being accepted for who they are. Explorers choose progressive skill-building “camptivities” that allow them to break away from their cabin group and specialize in activities of interest such as the climbing wall, water sports, boating, specialized crafts, soccer, basketball, marine science, outdoor adventure, and performing arts. They’ll experience the magic of camping under the stars for a night in the ballfield.
Mountaineers: Entering Grades 6-7
Mountaineer camp is all about exploring group and team dynamics in the outdoors. Our inclusive and progressive program encourages personal growth and confidence with high ropes, kayaking, and our Raggers program – a goal-setting personal challenge program for campers aged 12 and up. Campers also experience camp classics like the climbing wall, water sports, specialized crafts, soccer, basketball, marine science, outdoor adventure, and performing arts. Mountaineers will camp for a night under the stars in the outback.
Voyagers: Entering Grades 8-9
Voyager campers are often comfortable in a camp setting and ready for a little more. They participate in all of the traditional camp activities with the addition of group-focused teambuilding games and activities. Voyager camp emphasizes building positive peer relationships and learning to accept others and celebrate their ideas. Campers will campout for one night under the stars at our sister camp, Camp Lake Helena.
Teen Wilderness Adventure: Entering Grades 9-11
Teen Wilderness Adventure is a six-day small group trip for ten campers and two leaders learning basic outdoor skills and bonding. Two days are spent backpacking in the Olympic Forest and two days kayaking the South Sound. Positive, supportive staff role models help teenagers build self-esteem, disconnect from distractions, and make new friends on this wilderness adventure together.
TREK: Entering Grades 9-10
TREK supports young higher schools in becoming leaders among their peers and growing their confidence and comfort zone through an extended wilderness experience in the Olympic National Park. TREK Campers experience a three-night, four-day backpacking trip to Olympic National Park in addition to a Challenge Adventure Course. They will also participate in camp service projects - like trail cleanup and habitat restoration - and teambuilding programming.
QUEST: Entering Grades 10-11
QUEST is a small group extended wilderness leadership program. Staff with extensive wilderness experience and advanced medical training lead this eight-day paddling and backpacking adventure in the Olympic National Park. QUEST campers continue to learn their leadership style among peers while developing their outdoor wilderness skills.
LEAD: Entering Grades 11-12
This two-week camp offers teens hands-on experience and training in program planning, child development, and service learning. LEAD campers plan special events like a carnival or a theme night for the younger campers – learning how to work with younger kids and create age-appropriate activities. LEAD campers benefit from positive peer relationships, staff role models, community engagement, and service opportunities. LEAD participants must be entering 12 grade or have completed the QUEST program.
Transformative Nature Experiences
Explore and Thrive
At Camp Seymour, we believe in the transformative power of nature, where kids are encouraged to step out of their comfort zones and develop their independence. Campers learn not only about acceptance and tolerance but also about themselves and each other in the great outdoors. Sharing stories under the stars and life lessons around the campfire, they build a sense of belonging and discover new friendships.
Safe, Fun, and Memorable
Set against the backdrop of a stunning waterfront location, our overnight programs offer campers a safe and fun experience. With a diverse range of activities tailored to different age groups (8-18), from teen trips to leadership programs, every camper is given the opportunity to grow, explore, and thrive. Camp Seymour is more than just a summer camp—it's where lifelong memories, friendships, and personal growth happen.
