Lots going on here at Healthy Kids Day at Cheney Stadium in Tacoma. We'll be here until noon with activities for all ages, so head on over.

Rise and shine it's healthy kids day time!!!

Don't forget to register for our Spring 2 classes at 10 a.m. today. You can register either here at the branch located on Pearl Street in Tacoma, or you can register online at this link:

Only three days left to register for the Morgan Family YMCA Dance Recital set for June 17-18.

"Dance Company to me is important. It makes me feel like a model for younger kids, to inspire them to do what makes them happy. When I dance I can be myself, I can express myself while making people happy. Danicing is also very fun, a learning experience and opens me up to people who enjoy what I like as well," said Greta M.

There is still room for your child to sign up, but registration must be completed by this Saturday. You can register here:|Over18)&key=Morgan%20family%20Y%20dance%20recitalO

Here at Morgan Family YMCA we believe in safety first, which is why we cleared our building this morning when the fire alarm went off. We were quickly given the all clear by the Tacoma Fire Department and everyone was able to return to their myriad activities.
The alarm was set off by dust from the renovation of the upstairs women's locker room.
Kudos to all members for clearing the facility and to the fire department for responding so quickly.

Tacoma Rainiers mascot Rhubarb swung by Morgan Family YMCA last week. If you missed him, then be sure and come to Healthy Kids Day from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 30 at Cheney Stadium. Rhubarb will be there to sign autographs, take photos and most of all to have fun.

Along with Rhubarb you will also have the chance to interact with the Tacoma Stars and Sounders U23 soccer teams, participate in an American Ninja Warrior-type course, see a pro skateboarder, watch a Museum of Glass demonstration, hang out with the folks from the Tacoma Children's Museum, play in a Home Run Derby and multiple bouncy houses, plus much, much more.

We hope to see you this Saturday at Cheney Stadium.

Are you a high schooler or do you know one who needs something fun to do on Friday nights? Then head over to Morgan Family YMCA on Pearl Street from 9:30-11:30 p.m. every Friday night.

We are introducing 7-on-7 flag football, soccer and sand volleyball under the lights on our upper fields. In between games, participate in an agility workout with staffers Mushawn Knowles (Lincoln High/future college athlete) and Spencer Serjeant (Wilson High/future sports trainer). Other Late Nite activities include 5-on-5 hoops, climbing wall, 4-on-4 dodgeball, beat making, dance, parkour/gymnastics and goal setting with volunteer mentor Jay Lukan.

So if you are in Grades 9-12 or know someone who is, come to Teen Late Nite every Friday night at the Morgan
Family YMCA.

"I started dancing at the age of 3 and have participated in activities at the Y ever since. The Y has been a part of my childhood. I grew up here. When I first joined the dance company I was pretty insecure and shy, but I have not only grown as a dancer but also as a person. I have learned responsibility through teaching, hard work in my classes, love and the value of friendship from my dance sisters," Rachel M.

The Morgan Family YMCA's Celebration of Dance recital is June 17-18 and we want your child to participate! There is still room to do so, but registration must be completed by April 30. You can register here:|Over18)&key=Morgan%20family%20Y%20dance%20recital

Do you recognize this dog? He followed one of our members back to the Y this morning after his run! Give us a call at 253-460-8102 if you do!

Healthy Kids Day at Cheney Stadium is just around the corner. We were out at the Rainiers' field on this gorgeous Monday putting the final touches on planning for the April 30th event. We hope you are as excited as we are for this fun-filled day.
The event is free for all, runs from 9 a.m. to noon, and will feature tons of events, including visits from the Rainiers, Tacoma Stars, Sounders U23 team, the Glass Museum, Costco, Little Caesars, Chick-fil-A, Pepsi and much, much more. You can also sign up to be a YMCA member with absolutely no joining fee on April 30 only.
