At the Y, we understand the arts not only strengthen and enrich communities, but also teach artists of all ages creativity, self-confidence, empathy, and the open-mindedness that makes our world a better place.
We are thrilled to offer many dance and performing arts formats, for all ages and abilities here at your Morgan Family YMCA! Our dance programs are fee-based registered programs, costing $21 per session.
Annual dance recitals are offered to all dance program participants. Formal and informal performances are held at the YMCA and local theaters. Each dancer is highlighted and given the chance to shine.

Automatic Class Registration: Because each class will be working on a unique dance for the recital, once a dancer has registered for recital they must commit to continue with the same class day and time through June 2019.
With your authorization on the following registration form, class fees will be automatically withdrawn from your account on each registration day so your dancer will be guaranteed a spot in his/her class.
Recital Registration and Costuming Cost: $25 per student PLUS costume fees of $50 for preschool classes and $60 for all other classes. Dancers must purchase a costume for each dance in which they participate. For example, a student participating in one ballet class and one jazz class would pay $145 total reflecting a $25 registration fee, $60 ballet costume fee and a $60 jazz costume fee.
All Recital fees are due upon registration unless prior arrangements have been made through the Arts Director or SR Arts Director. All fees are non-refundable.
Ticket Cost: Each student will receive 2 complimentary tickets for each show in which they are performing. Tickets will go on sale May 1, 2019.

- Preschool Ballet: Focus on exploration of music and movement in this ballet introduction. Preschoolers discover their creativity through fun exercises and group interaction. These classes are for ages 3-5.
Basic ballet movements and music concepts are introduced through the teaching of imagination, self-expression and group interaction. Parental participation is required in this class. These classes are for ages 2-5.
Ballet: Beginning students learn preparatory exercises, focusing on creativity and exploration of movement. Advanced students engage in placement, technique and musicality through barre, center and enchainment (combination) exercises. These classes are for ages 6-adult.
Pointe and Pre-Pointe: Classes are offered to advanced dancers by invitation only to advance their skills in body alignment, feet placement and the transition to and from en pointe. These classes are for ages 13-adult and are by invitation only.
Preschool Ballet: Focus on exploration of music and movement in this ballet introduction. Preschoolers discover their creativity through fun exercises and group interaction. These classes are for ages 3-5.
Explore natural energy and emotions that create dances of fluid expression while learning contact-release, floor work, fall and recovery and improvisation. These classes are for ages 8-adult.
Master your floor work and footwork in this high-energy class, with a focus on rhythms, musicality and individual expression. These classes are for ages 5-adult.
This challenging and engaging class emphasizes syncopation, expression, body alignment and strength. These classes are for ages 5-adult.
Explore the freedom of movement while learning various modern dance technique, improvisation, composition, and partner work. These classes are for ages 10-adult.
Learn the technique, terminology and rhythm of tap dancing. These classes are for ages 5-adult.
By invitation only, dance company members are selected from YMCA dance programs for their love of dance, positive attitude, exemplary attendance and the respect they demonstrate toward their peers and instructors. Dancers are placed on one of three dance companies and participate in two performance season each year.
The Junior Y Dance Company is comprised of 10-15 dancers ages 8-13. Dancers participate in 6-8 performances yearly.
The Apprentice Y Dance Company is comprised of 7-12 dancers ages 12-15. Dancers participate in 8-10 performances yearly.
The Senior Y Dance Company is comprised of 14-20 dancers ages 13-18. Dancers participate 10-12 performances each year.
Adaptive Dance classes are designed for individuals with diverse abilities to find joy in movement and connect with their peers. Space is limited. Contact Kelly Lynch for more information.

All dance classes at the Morgan Family Y are inclusive. Adaptive classes provide a more focused learning environment for students who prefer a smaller class size.
