Homeschool PE Co-Op: Age appropriate skill development drills teach general fitness, sports, balance, teamwork, and more. Open to all homeschooled children during the school year and included in your YMCA membership.
One parent from each family enrolled in the program must commit to a full program session.
Parents volunteer one hour each day and then have a free hour to themselves. Volunteer options are in the pool, child watch and PE.
Volunteer application, state background check and child abuse prevention training must be complete before the family can begin the program
Home-schooled students, between the ages of 5 and 18 years, take part in a 60-minute gym class and a 40-minute swim lesson per day. Participation in both classes is required.
Co-Op leaders work toward the program objectives by:
- Using participation in sports as a tool for learning the lifelong values of goal setting and hard work.
- Promoting excitement about physical activity with the goal of developing a lifelong habit of fitness.
- Providing an opportunity for social interaction and fun.
The Co-Op year consists of six sessions. Sessions are divided into two 4 or 5-week sessions with 1 or 2-week break each session.
