Express yourself through movement in our dance program. Dance classes are offered for both youth and adults ages 3 and up. A variety of dance styles are offered, from ballet to hip hop for beginners and advanced dancers. Classes are offered year-round during our class sessions. Ballet: Beginning students learn preparatory exercises, focusing on creativity and exploration of movement. More advanced students engage in placement, technique, and musicality through barre, center, and enchainment (combination) exercises.

Preschool Ballet: Focus on exploration of music and movement in this ballet introduction. Preschoolers discover their creativity through fun exercises and group interaction.

Ballet and Tap Combination: Learn introductory skills and techniques in both ballet and tap.

Creative Dance Movement

Creative Movement Dance: Basic ballet movements and music concepts are introduced through the teaching of imagination, self-expression, and group interaction.

Dance Recitals

Dance Recitals: Annual dance recitals are offered to all dance program participants. Formal and informal performances are held at the Y and local theaters. Each dancer is highlighted and given the chance to shine.

Hip Hop

Hip Hop: Master your floor work and footwork in this high-energy class, with a focus on rhythms, musicality, and individual expression.


Jazz: This challenging and engaging class emphasizes syncopation, expression, body alignment, and strength.

Korum Dance Company

Korum Dance Company: By invitation only, dance company members are selected from YMCA dance programs and participate in two performance seasons a year. 

The vision statement for the dance company is to facilitate and develop youth leadership roles through community based opportunities that promote healthy living and social responsibilities while upholding the YMCA core values.

The Korum Dance Company has performance commitments throughout the year within the YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap Counties Association. Leadership roles include serving as teaching assistants, participating in various community events, and performing on behalf of the YMCA Arts Department as required.
