Carrying on a tradition
Swimming is an important life skill and the Y has been charged with teaching youth and adults to swim for more than 100 years. The Haselwood YMCA is pleased to carry on this tradition through our innovative, proven lesson techniques. Whether you are brand new to swimming or a seasoned swimmer, we have the instructors to help improve your abilities.
SWIM LESSONS BY AGE GROUP
Updated Curriculum launching Summer 1
We are excited to share that we are launching an updated swim lesson curriculum from the YMCA of USA starting with the Summer 1 session at the Haselwood Family YMCA.
What has changed?
The biggest change you will notice is the name of the levels. The level names have been changed to represent the skills being taught. The next noticeable change is the ages for each level. Expanding the ages allows for more progression through levels. Our curriculum is now focused on teaching basic water safety skills then progressing to stroke development and technique.
Whether you're a master swimmer looking for your daily workout or a family looking to connect in the water, we have the perfect aquatic environment for your needs. The Ron and Nadean Ross Aquatics Center features:
- Six lap swimming lanes (4-6 feet in depth)
- Instructional pool (four feet)
- Recreational Pool with zero depth, beachfront entry
- Corkscew water slide
- Lazy River
Our Recreational Pool is always open for fun, even during swim lesson times. We reserve a minimum of two lanes for lap swim during swim lesson times, and are able to open all six lanes for the rest of the day. Monday-Thursday from 4-6pm is Adult-only Lap Swim (ages 15 and older). Pool use is free to members and available to community members for day use at the applicable day fee.
Our aquatic center closes daily 30 minutes prior to the facility closure time.
