Ballet Registration Required



Beginning students learn preparatory exercises, focusing on creativity and exploration of movement. More advanced students engage in placement, technique, and musicality through barre, center, and enchainment (combination) exercises.

Preschool Ballet

Preschoolers discover their creativity through fun exercises and group interaction. Students will have an in-class performance at the end of the session.

Details:

Ballet 1: Ages 6-10. In this fee based program, beginning students learn preparatory exercises focusing on creativity and exploration of movement. Students engage in placement, technique, and musicality through barre, center, and enchainment (combination) exercises. Youth ages 8-10 have the opportunity to register for twice a week dance lessons

Dance Recitals Registration Required



Annual dance recitals are offered to all dance program participants. Formal and informal performances are held at the Y and local theaters. Each dancer is highlighted and given the chance to shine.

Hip Hop Registration Required



Master your floor work and footwork in this high-energy class, with a focus on rhythms, musicality, and individual expression.

Homeschool Dance Registration Required



Focus on exploration of music and movement in this dance introduction. Students discover their creativity through fun exercises and group interaction while learning the basics of different styles of dance.

Ballet

Home School PE students have an opportunity to dance twice a week as an alternative exercise from traditional Home School PE curriculum. Dancers learn preparatory exercises focusing on creativity and exploration of movement. More advanced students engage in placement, technique, and musicality through barre, center, and enchainment (combination) exercises. Students have an in-class performance or showcase of skills at the end of each session.

Jazz

Home School PE students have an opportunity to be in a Jazz dance class once a week as an alternative exercise from traditional Home School PE curriculum. Jazz dance has an emphasis on syncopation, expression, body alignment, and strength. Students have an in-class performance or showcase of skills at the end of each session.

Tap

Home School PE students have an opportunity to be in a Tap dance class once a week as an alternative exercise from traditional Home School PE curriculum. Tap dance has an emphasis on technique, terminology, and rhythm of tap dancing. Students have an in-class performance or showcase of skills at the end of each session.

Progressive Ballet, Jazz, and Tap classes are a part of the Spring Dance Recital. Registration and commitment forms are required for the Recital opportunity.

Hula Registration Required



Gain understanding of the historical origin of Hula, Hawaiian words, and the basic steps and hand movements involved.

Learn introductory skills and techniques in both ballet and tap.

Private and Semi-Private Dance Lessons Registration Required



We offer private and semi-private dance lessons in half-hour sessions for dancers ages 7 and up. Private lessons are centered around each dancer's needs. The lessons can range in technique depending on the student’s skill level and focus. Techniques offered are ballet, tap, jazz, and hip-hop. If the participant is under 18 the parent must be present.

Students work toward their personal goals one–on–one with an experienced dance instructor.

Details:

Participants will be matched with the best instructor for their goals and availability. Instructor requests are also welcome. 24-hour cancellation notice is required or participant will be charged for a half-hour lesson.
