Haselwood Family Y ID Policy
100% ID CHECK ALWAYS IN EFFECT
In order to better protect our members, guests, and staff, all visitors *14 years of age and older are required to show a valid, government-issued ID.
This policy helps us account for all people in the facility, making the YMCA a safer place for all in attendance. Community members who intend to visit the facility on a regular basis can elect to have their picture taken and stored in our database in lieu of showing picture ID during subsequent visits, but all first-time guests MUST present ID to enter the facility.
*Visitors not old enough to obtain a driver's license or learner's permit may present an ASB or other accredited student council ID card for entrance.
Community members and guests wishing to visit the facility are required to sign our guest waiver before entering the facility. Additionally, all minors entering the facility must have their guest waivers signed by a parent or guardian.
The Haselwood Family YMCA employs a youth swim check practice, which allows our lifeguards and aquatic staff to quickly and accurately determine each youth's swim level. The tiered levels are color-coded to a corresponding band color - red, yellow, or green - and determine into what areas of the aquatic center each swimmer can go.
Youth will have their swim level checked upon their first visit to the facility and the band must be worn at all times while in the aquatic center unless the child is participating in a YMCA group swim lesson.
This practice applies to all youth recreational swimmers regardless whether the child is a community member, YMCA member, or YMCA swim lesson participant.

The safety of our staff, members, and volunteers is a top priority at the Y. While we make every effort to keep the Y open and programs running to serve our community, we may cancel programs, delay opening, or close the facility because of severe weather, unsafe driving conditions, or power outages. Operating decisions are based on weather alerts, school delays and closures, road conditions, and the ability of Y staff to operate the facility safely.
Download the Y mobile app at ymcapkc.org/mobile to receive immediate updates. You will also find the latest updates at ymcapkc.org/weather or by calling the Y. Participants enrolled in programs will receive email updates if programs are canceled.
Performing, Visual and Culinary Arts classes adhere to branch inclement weather policies. Should classes be canceled members are invited to contact the onsite Arts Director to arrange participation in an alternative class that week. In the unlikely event that classes are canceled twice during the same session, the arts department will make every effort to schedule make-up classes during break week.
