Connect with fellow Active Older Adults and meet new friends in a small group setting.

AOA Billiards

This small group gathers twice a week, eager to test their skills at the pool table. There is a lot of laughing, joking, and friendly competition -- even a little cheering when someone makes that near impossible shot. Whether you are a beginner or a pro, you are sure to have a good time!

Active Older Adults Orientation Drop-in Class



At your Gordon Family YMCA, we provide programs for all to build a healthier spirit, mind, and body. We are here to support you on your health, exercise, and wellness journey! Join us at one of our Active Older Adults Orientations to learn about how our programs can help you live a healthy, active lifestyle.

Need help with registration? Stop by our Welcome Center or call 253-826-9622 for assistance with registration. Drop-ins are also invited.

Active Older Adults Potluck Drop-in Class



Good food and friends — they just seem to go together. Bring a friend and a dish to share. Potlucks are held monthly.

Details:

The Active Older Adult Potluck has a reputation for the quantity and quality of the food at every potluck. In addition, the AOA’s look forward to an impressive line-up of interesting, entertaining speakers. The potluck is open to the entire Community so spread the word, “All Active Older Adults in the surrounding community are welcome.”

The July 29 potluck will be our traditional Ice Cream Social. Active Older Adults attending the potluck will provide the main course and the Y will provide the dessert. You will be able to choose an ice cream float or ice cream sundae and decorate it just the way you like it best. 

Potlucks are the last Monday of the month. A coffee reception starts in front of the fireplace at 12:30pm and the potluck is from 1 - 2:30pm in the community room.

Adaptive Games Drop-in Class



Children engage in activities that challenge and expand their current abilities. Games range from simple sensory play (i.e. sensory bins) to more challenging activities involving team work, gross and fine motor skills, imagination and, concentration.

Details:

The Y is here to serve families and children of all abilities and levels. Participants in each of these programs will be served by our instructor Lindsay Helm, who holds her Bachelor�s Degree in recreation management specializing in adaptive programming.

Bible Study Drop-in Class



Be equipped for the challenges of daily living as you meet with other members for a non-denominational, faith-based hour of biblical study, prayer, and fellowship.

Details:

Are you looking to enrich your spiritual health? Do you desire a better understanding of the Lord’s message? You are invited to gather together for a Bible Study in a non-denominational small group with other caring members. This group, led by Gordon Wohlers, meets weekly in the Chapel.

Creaky Knees Hikes Other



Twenty-two Active Older Adults enjoyed the first hike of the season on the Clark’s Creek Trail.  Weather was perfect and everyone had a great time! Join us for our upcoming hikes!

Details:

Summer has arrived, and it is a perfect time to get outside an enjoy some of this wonderful Pacific Northwest weather! There is a Creaky Knees hike every Thursday this summer and you won't want to miss any of them! 

The hikes for July are listed below. Take note, there is no hike scheduled for Thursday, July 4. 

July 11 | Easy/Moderate Difficulty

   Fenceline, River, Katie's West Pond and Sewer Line Trail | 3.1 miles | 551 ft elevation

July 18 | Moderate Difficulty 

   Elk Ridge, Hermit, Sherwood | 5.9 miles loop hike | 889 ft elevation

July 25 | Hard Difficulty

  Dewey Lake | 6 miles | 1200 ft elevation

Hikers meet at the Y at 9am and leave for the trails by 9:15am. Cindy will be glad to provide you with a map or directions to the trailhead if you would rather meet the group there.

Knitting Drop-in Class



Grab your knitting needles and yarn to learn the knitting basics, including long tail cast-on and purl stiches.

Details:

Much of what is made here is given to others to enjoy. Every member is eager to help someone new to the craft. If knitting or crocheting is something you think you would enjoy, stop by and visit. You will be welcomed and inspired!

The Knitting Circle may be smaller when the sun shines, however, it is no less dedicated. This is a great way to spend a couple of hours—coffee, cookies, visiting, and sharing knitting and crocheting ideas. Whether you are a beginner or a pro, you will enjoy this group.

Parent Date Night Registration Required



Parents get a night out while the Y offers safe, evening care. Children participate in activities designed to promote social interaction and cooperation.

Details:

Take a night for each other! Parents get a night out while the Y offers safe, evening care. Children will get free play in the child watch area and be able to make arts and crafts. Dinner will be provided. The night will close with story time, songs, and quiet time.

WHEN: 3-7pm

COST: 

  • First Child: $25 YMCA Members | $50 for Community Members

AOA Walks

Active Older Adults will be exploring the Foothills Trail this summer.

Details:

There are many trailheads to start from and the goal is to explore most of the Trail that runs from Buckley to Sumner. The walk will start at a different trailhead each week. This is a beautiful, paved trail with something interesting around each bend. Walks will be approximately 2 miles long roundtrip. 

Please bring a picnic lunch to enjoy after the walk.
