We are thrilled to offer many dance and performing arts formats for all ages here at your Gordon Family YMCA! Our dance programs are fee-based registered programs, costing $21 per session.

MUSIC

GUITAR

This small group class will teach students basic guitar techniques.  Participants will learn how to read music, understand guitar tablature, play simple chords, and collaborate with other musicians.  Students will need to bring their own instrument to class. This is a fee-based registered class. 

PIANO

Customizable for a specific interests and diverse ability levels, pianists will increase their skill and knowledge.This is a fee-based registered class.

THEATER

MUSICAL THEATER

Study the basic skills needed for movement, rhythm, and character development.  Each session ends with a performance of a scene from a musical. This is a fee-based registered class. 

DANCE

BEGINNING BALLET

Focus on exploration of music and movement in this ballet introduction. Preschoolers discover their creativity through fun exercises and group interaction. This is a fee-based registered program.

BALLET

Beginning students learn preparatory exercises, focusing on creativity and exploration of movement. More advanced students engage in placement, technique, and musicality through barre, center, and enchainment (combination) exercises. This is a fee-based registered program.

PARENT/CHILD BALLET

Basic ballet movements and music concepts are introduced through the teaching of imagination, self-expression, and group interaction. This is a fee-based registered program.

CONTEMPORARY

Explore natural energy and emotions that create dances to fluid expression while learning contract-release, floor work, fall and recovery, and improvisation.

HIP HOP

Master your floor work and footwork in this high-energy class, with a focus on rhythms, musicality, and individual expression. This is a fee-based registered program.

HULA

Gain understanding of the historical origin of Hula, Hawaiian words, and the basic steps and hand movements involved.

JAZZ

Channel your inner Broadway dancer in this challenging and engaging class that emphasizes syncopation, expression, body alignment, and strength.

LYRICAL JAZZ

Learn the kicks and leaps of jazz and fluidity of lyrical dance in this introductory class that incorporates both techniques. This is a fee-based registered program.

PARENT/CHILD CREATIVE MOVEMENT

Focus on exploration of music and movement in this dance introduction. Preschoolers discover their creativity through fun excercises and group interaction.

SALSA

Learn introductory skills and techniques in salsa dancing.

TAP

Put on your tapping shoes to learn the technique, terminology, and rhythm of tap dancing. Tap shoes required. This is a fee-based registered program.

2019 Recital Information

We invite you to be a part of our  2019 Informal Dance Recital. This is a wonderful opportunity for students to build confidence, explore one’s creativity, work at a goal, and create lasting memories and friendships.

 

Recital Registration: Open now until Saturday, February 9, 2019.

Fee: $18

Date: Mid-May (TBA)

Location: Sumner/Bonney Lake (TBA)

Tickets $5
