VISUAL, CULINARY AND DIGITAL
We are thrilled to offer many culinary, digital, and visual formats for all ages here at your Gordon Family YMCA! Our arts programs are fee-based registered programs, costing $25 per session for culinary, digital, and visual arts. All supplies in these classes are provided with the cost of registration.

A-B-C'S OF A-R-T
Preschoolers will learn about art concepts and art history as they make their way through the alphabet. Each week a new letter will be introduced and will be the focus of the art projects produced.
ART OF SCIENCE
Explore the integral relationship between art and science with lots of experiments and related art projects in this educational class.
Students will learn the basics of creating in three-dimensions with clay in this fun and popular class. Participants will explore simple construction techniques including coil and slab building and the use of modeling tools. This is a fee-based registered class.
Learn to prepare and cook nutritious meals in a fun environment.
Beginning students learn basic drawing techniques and create pencil and charcoal drawings from photographs and live scenery. Intermediate students learn concepts of color and composition as they tackle more challenging projects using pastels and other media. Manga incorporates techniques teaching proportion, developing a character and how to show expression. This is a fee-based registered class.
Members age 7 and up are welcome to come and explore their creativity during our drop-in times. We will have several art materials available for painting, drawing and sculpture. An art instructor will be available to answer your questions and facilitate your art-making experience.
FANTASY DRAWING AND PAINTING
Create fantasy art using pencils, colored pencils, and watercolor.
Create various costume pieces to allow two separate costumes at completion of class.
INTRO TO SCULPTURE
Explore a variety of mixed media materials to create three-dimensional works of art.
Make wearable art in this creative and fun class.
Learn painting techniques and increase your creativity with the use of watercolor and acrylic paints. This is a fee-based registered class.
PARENT/CHILD TOT CHEF
Preschoolers and their parents learn about nutrition and how to follow simple recipes.
Preschoolers and their parents collaborate on simple projects using the pinch, coil and slab techniques for construction.
Students will learn basic quilting techniques including designing, cutting, squaring and sizing. Projects in this class will be both fun and functional.
Learn how to use a sewing machine and basic vocabulary skills for sewing with a pattern.
Learn the basics of designing your own app using code on our Apple computers.
DIGITAL DRAWING AND PAINTING
Explore a variety of digital software that will enhance creativity and imagination as the principles of art are introduced. This is a fee-based registered class.
Students will learn the basics of using a camera to capture original footage utilizing stop-motion Lego Moviemaker. This project-based class includes an overview of tools and techniques for making great short videos and sharing them with friends and family on Youtube. This is a fee-based registered class.
Students will learn the basics of using a digital camera to take photos, how to import images to a computer, simple editing and printing. This project-based class includes an overview of tools and techniques for making great photos and turning them into digital art. This is a fee-based registered class.
Come and build a robot using Lego Mindstorm. Students will learn the basic mechanics of a robot while challenging their imagination and creativity. Simple programming concepts are also covered in this popular and fun class. This is a fee-based registered class.
