University Y Student Center Annual Campaign
Dear University Y Community,
We are fortunate to serve the downtown community in partnership with the University of Washington-Tacoma. Through support of the Annual Campaign, we are able to make the University Y Student Center and its programs accessible to all.
At the University Y, we work side-by-side with our neighbors to make sure that everyone, regardless of age, income or background, has the opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive. Programs like financial assistance, Juvenile Justice Project, free memberships for foster youth, and Young Adult Late Nite are funded through your support and create a safe atmosphere for our community members.
To continue these programs, we need support from community members like you.
Regional Executive Director
Although Redric was attending Late Nite and morning hoops regularly, he was not great at basketball. After having his name repeatedly skipped to play, he decided he needed to pick up his game, and did that by coming to the Y even more.
Noby’s not just any “gym goer”. She is currently in school to become a Physical Therapist Assistant to help others. It is a highly stressful, accelerated program. “The gym has always been my outlet to relieve stress,” said Noby. “And to be surrounded by great people makes the experience so much more helpful.”
As a teen, Tyler lived in a community riddled with gang activity. He found his escape at Teen Late Nite, which was a safe environment for him to stay out of trouble and engage in a positive atmosphere.
