Providing Care for Families and Children

The YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap Counties will provide child care options for families in the event of a teacher strike.

The YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap counties remains committed to providing quality program options for families and children when school is out of session, including events such as a teacher strike. As part of that commitment to serving families, the Y will provide child care options at the following locations:

TACOMA

Location: Morgan Family YMCA

Time: 7am-6:30pm

Date: Starting Thursday, September 6 (if strike occurs), through the first day of school

Cost: $30 YMCA members and $35 community members

What to Expect:

  • Registration is required to participate.
  • 300 program spots available.
  • Guardians will be required to sign a waiver when arriving to the program and show identification upon pick-up.
  • Bring a sack lunch and water bottle, and wear closed-toed shoes.

PUYALLUP

Location: Mel Korum Family YMCA

Time: 8am-5pm

Date: Starting Wednesday, September 5, through the first day of school

Cost: $35 YMCA members and community members

  • 50 spots available.
  • Guardians will be required to sign a waiver when arriving to the program and show identification upon pick-up.
  • Bring a sack lunch and water bottle, and wear closed-toed shoes.

Both sites at the Mel Korum Family YMCA and the Morgan Family YMCA may fill quickly. In order to provide care to as many families as possible, we may open additional spots at the Lakewood Family YMCA. Please check back for updates.
