Find Your Membership's New Benefit FAQs

Q: When will the fee increase go into effect?

A: Your membership rate will change effective October 1.

Q: Are you expanding programming or hours of operation with the fee increase?

A: We are excited to announce we are expanding our hours of operations effective October 1. We will open on Sundays from 9:00am to 1:00pm and will extend Saturdays by an hour from 7:00 am to 6:00pm.

Q: What is priority registration and when will it be available? What other youth programs will be added?

A: We will launch priority registration in 2023 for youth who attend 90% of their swim lesson or gymnastics offerings. Additionally, we are removing the one land, one aquatic-based class registration restriction. Lastly, we are excited to re-introduce Home School PE in Winter I and will add Skills and Drills in the Fall 2 session.

Q: Why is the YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap Counties (YMCAPKC) adjusting fees?

A: The increased costs for overhead, supplies, maintenance, in addition to the operational roadmap to add more programs and staff—along with the need to stay competitive in the labor market—provided a forecast that required this move. We also want to keep up with expectations that members have for quality programming and clean and spacious state-of-the-art community centers, and we are also expanding hours and investing in membership experience improvements.

Q: When was the last time YMCAPKC made fee adjustments?

A: The YMCA last adjusted fees in 2019. On average, monthly fees are increased by only $1 per year (2020, 2021, 2022, and 2023), as we will guarantee no increase for 2023.

Q: Under what circumstances is a join fee charged?

A: A join fee will be assessed for new members and for accounts that have been inactive for 30 days or greater. The First Adult (18+) on the membership will have a join fee of $75 (formerly $100). Any additional adults (18+) in the household will have a join fee of $50 each. If you qualify for a scholarship, we will reduce your join fee by 50%.
