YMCA Healthy Lifestyles
change your life, one step at a time
Most of us, at some time or another have tried to make a health-related life change. Whether it is losing weight, exercising, reducing stress or curbing an undesirable habit - starting and sticking with a program long enough to affect change is a major challenge. The Stanford Healthy Lifestyles Program is here to help.
This 10-month behavior change was developed by Stanford over 30 years ago and continues to be one of the most successful behaviour change programs available. The program uses group dynamics and one-on-one coaching to help you achieve your personal goals. Together, in a group environment, we practice transforming our current lifestyle habits into positive life behaviours. You will be inspired to take action regarding your personal health and will meet with trained facilitators who guide you through each step of behaviour change.
The 10-month Healthy Lifestyles Program includes: 22 group sessions (your group meets once/week for the first month, and every other week for the next 9 months), 1 personal consultation, program notebook, and ongoing support from group and YMCA. There is a nominal fee to participate in this program.

Journey to Freedom
make life changes in spirit, mind and body
Journey to Freedom participants attend an 8 to 12 week small group to prepare them to take first steps toward important changes in their life. Using the highly successful small group model, a maximum of 10 participants per group will journey together through a workbook developed by Executive Director and Founder of Restore Ministries, Scott Reall. All participants are experiencing the need for change in some of the following broken areas of their lives:
- Loneliness and depression
- Grief/Loss of a loved one
- Stress/Feeling overwhelmed
- Destructive habits and obsessions
- Financial difficulties
- Weight loss/Eating disorders
- Marital/Family problems
- Chronic health problems
- Times of life transition
- Any other issue gaining control over life.
Journey to Freedom is offered through the Mission Emphasis Department of the YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap Counties in partnership with the community. The program offers an inspiring hope filled vision for those who want to improve spirit, mind and body.
