Creativity Group
This group meets one Saturday each month; times vary. Activities vary from scrapbooking to making recycled-material purses. Join in on the creativity!

September Creativity Group:  Back to School Book Covers, Saturday, September 25th, 2:30 - 4:00 pm in the Birthday Party Room. The kids are back to school, and those text books need protecting! Bring your text and other books to the Gig Harbor Family YMCA and learn how to cover, protect and decorate using brown paper grocery bags, various craft supplies and your imagination. Fun for every member of the family.

NEW! Gig Harbor Family YMCA Book Club
The Gig Harbor Family YMCA Book Club will be having it's first meeting on Tuesday, October 5th at 6:30 pm in the Community Room. Facilitated by Angel Riggs, the group will meet the first Tuesday of each month. Please come prepared to meet other members who, like you, enjoy reading and discussing good literature.

Nutrition Series with MultiCare Registered Dietician Robin Beeson
Monthly nutrition classes will be done on a variety of subjects ranging from eating healthy during the holidays to heart healthy meals. NEW TIME:  This group meets the first Thursday of each month from 12:00 - 1:00pm.

October:  Getting Real About Weight Loss and Maintenance
Learn how to control your weight, stay motivated and ultimately adopt a healthy lifestyle with this class.

Active Older Adults Potluck
Bring a dish for the potluck and enjoy the company of fellow food-loving community members. Potlucks are every third Thursday from 11:00am-12:00pm

Active Older Adults Hikes
Visit this page often for current Active Older Adult hiking opportunities. Please plan to provide your own transportation, snacks and water. We advise that participants also be sure to dress appropriately for rain, cold or hot weather as appropriate. 

Current Hike:  Banner Forest Park. Friday, September 10th, 2010. Meet at the Trail Head at 10:00 am.

Description: 
Walk through Banner Forest for about two miles along an undulating, even surfaced logging road. Please wear weather-appropriate clothing, good walking shoes, and bring water and a snack.

Directions: 
The trail head is located on the west side of Banner Road, about three miles north of the Anderson Beach Trail Head. Another way to get there is to go north out of Gig Harbor on Hwy 16 to Sedgwick Road. Turn right (east) 3-1/2 miles to Banner Road then turn right (south), traveling 1-1/2 miles to the trail head on the right (west) side of the road.

Art For And By Active Older Adults
Bring your art pad, pencils, and watercolors and come explore the world of self-expression through art. Led by renowned artists.
First and Third Tuesday of the Month at 11:00 am in the Gig Harbor Family YMCA Community Room.

Parkinson's Movement Group
Join other members with Parkinson's in a fun environment to work on movement and kinesthetic exercise to improve balance and well-being. Meets every Thursday from 2:20 - 3:10 pm in Multipurpose Room #2.

Coffee & Cards
Did you know that cards and coffee are just two of the offerings at this gathering? Enjoy Chess and other games of strategy with YMCA volunteers and members. Card games vary. Join us every Wednesday from 1:00pm-3:00pm in the the Community or Birthday Party Room.

Hiking Group
Want to share your love for hiking with the Gig Harbor YMCA community? We are forming a new hiking group to explore day hikes on weekdays and/or weekends.

Current Hike:  Mt. Ellinor Trail #812, Saturday, September 18th, 2010. Meet at the Gig Harbor Family YMCA to carpool at 6:00 am.
