Youth Gymnastics

The YMCA of Tacoma Pierce County believes that gymnastics programs encourage and promote healthy and strong kids, families and communities by placing a priority on family involvement, healthy competition rather than rivalry, the value of participation over winning, team building as well as individual development, a positive self-image and a sense of mutual respect for others.

All YMCA of Tacoma Pierce County gymnastics programs are FREE to members and included in your YMCA membership. Classes vary by branch. See Online Registration or visit the web page of the YMCA branch near you for more info.

Parent/Tot Gymnastics
This wonderful class gives parents a chance to come to class with their toddler, while having and instructor lead. Parent participation is required. Each child learns a varitey of skills from learning to follow and listen to an instructor to body awareness and hand-eye coordination. This program is included in your YMCA membership with registration. Available at the Morgan Family YMCA.
Ages: 2-3 years  Location: North Gym   Dates/Times: Mon-Thurs 3:20-4 pm. And Sat, 11:40 am-12:20 pm.

Preschool Gymnastics
Classes are designed to teach children basic gymnastics skills. Each child is provided with opportunities to learn and meet new challenges according to the age and ability level of the class. Activities include an aerobic warm-up, stretching, and a variety of skills taught to lead the participants toward achieving specific skills. Children work on all apparatus developing better motor skills, body awareness and hand eye coordination.

Recreational Gymnastics
Classes provide instruction on all competitive events for boys and girls, including trampoline. Participants develop body awareness and improve strength and flexibility. Participants are divided into appropriate groups based on age and ability. Available at: Lakewood, Mel Korum, Morgan.
Ages: 5 - 12

Advanced Training Gymnastics Class
This class is by invitation only and prepares you gymnasts for the Morgan Family YMCA competitive gymnastics program, Mercy Gymnastics. The curriculum builds on basic skills achieved in the recreational gymnastics program and further develops strength and flexibility. The class is split by age, with some crossover regarding skill level.
Age: K-2 grade  Date/Time: Mon/Thurs 4-5:30 pm  Fee: $25 per month

Competitive Gymnastics Teams
The following YMCA Gymnastics teams compete locally and nationally. Participats are in the class by invitation only and must try-out and pay a low tuition fee in addition to their YMCA membership.
