Volunteerism and Giving
Join us. Make a difference.
When you volunteer at the Y, you provide leadership and talent vital to empowering people and communities to learn, grow and thrive.
More than 1,000 business leaders, community advocates, parents, teens, and individuals who want to give back and support their neighbors volunteer at the Y. That’s because we have the presence and partnerships across Pierce and Kitsap Counties to promise, and deliver, positive personal and social change.

In our role as an advocate for children and our responsibility for enhancing the personal growth and development of children and adults in all of our programs, all YMCA staff and volunteers are required to attend the YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap Counties Child Abuse Prevention Training. Please contact your supervisor or a YMCA branch to reserve your seat at one of our trainings.
Summer teen program
Counselor in training (CIT)
Our summer program for teens, grades 8 - 12. This four week program will foster leadership, personal confidence, and character development. The first two weeks participants will receive training on child development, child abuse prevention, how to plan and deliver activities for kids, and gain hands-on experience shadowing our Day Camp staff. Then, your teen will get to choose which two weeks during the summer to take what they learned and put it to action in our Day Camp program.
Fee: $100 for all 4 weeks. Financial assistance is available.
