YMCA Lifeguard Certification Course
Cost
$135 which includes lifeguard manual, resusitation mask, and certifications.
Certification
Upon successful completion of the courses, the student shall receive the following certifications:
Certification in First-Aid
Certification in CPRO/AED for Lifeguards
O2 Administration
YMCA Lifeguard Certification
Attendance at ALL sessions is required

This course is designed to give the participants the basic skills and knowledge to be lifeguards in the pool. The course offers information on how to guard, anticipate, and prevent problems and take action to help those in danger when necessary. It also covers safety and survival skills every swimmer needs to know, accident prevention, guarding techniques, emergency systems, rescue skills, first aid in aquatic environment, spinal injury management, legal responsibilities, pool management, and information on how to get a job.
Responsibilites of Participant
Lifeguard Responsibilites: remain alert, with no lapses of consciousness, sit for extended periods (including in an elevated chair), move to various locations (including in and around an elevated chair), communicate verbally (including projecting the voice across distances), hear noises and distress signals in the aquatic environment, perform all needed rescues and surival skills, & problem solve and make informed decisions.
Required for Participation:
Complete Medical Clearance
Minimum age is 16 (If under 18, participant must have parental consent to take this course).
Pass the following swim test:
1) Perform a long, shallow front dive, then swim 500 yards, including 100 yards each of sidestroke, front crawl, breaststroke, sidestroke kick with one arm forward, and inverted breaststroke kick with arms on stomach.
2) Tread water for at least two minutes with legs only.
3) Surface dive head first and feet first in 8 to 10 feet of water and swim underwater for 15 feet.
Student must attend and actively participate in all class sessions.
What to bring to class:
Please bring the Lifeguard Manual and study guide, bathing suit, towel, resusitator mask, and proof of age.

Lifeguarding/Red Cross Certification Courses
Lifeguarding Certification
This course is designed to give participants the basic skills needed to be a lifeguard in the pool, lake, river, surf and water park environments. This comprehensive course offers up-to-date information on how to guard, anticipate and prevent problems, and take action to help those in danger. It also covers safety and survival skills, accident prevention, guarding techniques, emergency systems, rescue skills, first aid, spinal injury management, weather and open water dangers, legal responsibilities, pool management, and information on how to get a job.

CPR/AED FOR LIFEGUARDS
Cost: $40
This 7.5 hour course will teach lifeguards (those with a duty to act) the skills needed to respond appropriately to breathing and cardiac emergencies and provide care for victims of sudden cardiac arrest through the safe use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED). Both days are required for certification.

Administering Emergency Oxygen
Cost: $20 for Oxygen Only
This course will give participants the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to a victim of a breathing emergency using emergency oxygen.

This class is designed to give individuals the knowledge and skills necessary to
recognize and provide basic first aid care for injuries and sudden illnesses until
advanced medical personnel arrives.

American Red Cross Infant and Child CPR
The purpose of the American Red Cross Infant and Child CPR Class is to help participants identify and eliminate potentially hazardous conditions in their environment, recognize emergencies and make appropriate decisions for first aid care. To receive certification, students must successfully complete both written and skills exams and must attend the entire class session.
