Aquatics

Aquatics exercise provides the most balanced environment for cardio and strength training. All YMCA aquatics classes are FREE to members. See Schedules for class times and locations.


Adult Swim Club
This team is for any swimmer interested in meeting other swim enthusiasts, including lap swimmers, tri-athletes and competitive swimmers. A coach is on deck ready to assist you with improving or learning the strokes. This class is included in your YMCA membership. Contact Angela Garner at 253-460-8990 for more information.

Adult Swim Instruction
Ideal for the beginner or intermediate swimmer, the instructor will work with each participant to achieve short-term swim goals. The goals are set by the participant with the instructor's assistance. This class is included in your YMCA membership. See Online Registration for class times.

Private Lessons: $20 for 30 minutes
Semi-Private Lessons: $15 per person for 30 minutes

Deep Water Aerobics
Performed in deep water, this non-impact exercise class utilizes the resistant forces of the water for a maximum aerobic workout. Float belts or ankle cuffs are used to aid in flotation and increase effort. This high intensity class improves muscle strength, muscle endurance and cardiovascular fitness.

Healthy Joint Exercise
Designed to maintain and increase the range of motion in joints, strengthen muscles and condition the body for overall fitness.

Lap Swim
Enjoy swimming for physical fitness. See Schedules for lap swim times.

Modified Water Aerobics
This low impact, moderate intensity aerobic exercise class uses the water to increase the resistance of each move, toning and strengthening muscles in the entire body.

Shallow Water Aerobics
This class includes thirty minutes of aerobic exercise to improve efficiency of the heart and lung and increase muscular strength, endurance and flexibility.

Water Walking
This low-impact class is ideal for the non-swimming adult. Participants walk with various movements across the pool to increase flexibility, muscle strength and endurance.
