We have a day for giving thanks, but on December 2 you can do more with #givingtuesday. Join others around the world in giving to causes you care about. Take an #UNselfie and tell us why you give to the Y.

This is the time of year to give thanks for the blessings we have and to reach out a helping hand to those in need. You can help members of our community simply by purchasing a $20 Thanksgiving meal voucher from Saar's Marketplace and leaving it with the Welcome Center. We will distribute vouchers to families who would otherwise not have Thanksgiving dinner. Please bring vouchers in by Monday, November 24 and thank you for your generosity.

For more information, contact Amy Boheman, 253-460-8924, aboheman@ymcapkc.org.

Our Little Learners went on a voyage through the building this week to learn about the Pilgrims' journey to Plymouth Rock in 1620.

Today, we start the process of upgrading some of our workout machines. Friday morning, we will be replacing five machines, the StairMaster Stepmills, Marpo Rope Trainer, and Sci-Fit.

On Monday, we will be replacing 39 of the Precor and Octane machines and replacing them with newer models. We will also be moving existing equipment to accommodate the new equipment.

There may be times during the day when equipment will be unavailable or in transition. We will do our best to minimize that time and we greatly appreciate your patience during this process.

We received this from our friends at Whole Foods and thought we would pass it along to our members! Are you a talented entrepreneur who wants to get your products in a larger market? Check out this awesome opportunity!

It's Diabetes Awareness Day at the Lakewood Family YMCA! Join us from 9-11:30am and again from 4:30-7:30pm. This event is free and open to the public. Get a complimentary screening, learn about healthy food and recipes for the holidays, and get your questions answered by a certified diabetes educator.

Be equipped for the challenges of daily living as you meet with other members for a non-denominational, faith-based hour of prayer, and fellowship Fridays at 9am at the Y.

You have two opportunities to attend our Diabetes Awareness and Screening Event tomorrow. Join us in the morning from 9-11:30am or in the afternoon from 4:30-7pm to get your free screening, learn about healthy recipes and try food samples, and bring your questions for our certified diabetes educator.

You're never too young to be healthy. That's why we're excited to announce that we have new exercise equipment for children! Check out the star walker, lateral snowboarder, and elliptical trainer in the Family Fitness Room.

Congratulations to our October Challenge Winners:
