Exercise and Thrive
Research suggests that those recovering from cancer who incorporate exercise into their program improve their survival rate and quality of life. In cooperation with Fred Hutchison Cancer Research Center, the Lakewood Family YMCA now offers the Exercise and Thrive program where patients in recovery can get personalized guidance through a regimen than will speak to their specific physical needs. We are very excited and honored to offer this program.
Exercise and Thrive is...
A 12-week strength and fitness program for people who have completed active cancer treatment that builds muscle mass and strength and increases flexibility and endurance. Improves your daily living.
Goal: to help you, the survivor, develop your own physical fitness regimens so that you can continue your exercise activities after completing the program.
Who can participate? Cancer survivors who...
- Are over age 21
- Are at least 90 days out of cancer treatment with no evidence of active disease
