The Lakewood Family YMCA is in need of a Physical Therapist to work with youth with disabilities in our Swim For Exception Children's program. This program focuses on developing swimming skills for children with physical and developmental disabilities while striving to give the children the ability and confidence to attend regularly scheduled swim lessons.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate participants and plan and implement an effective physical therapy program based upon physical assessment, sound judgment, and psychological sensitivity.
- Maintain a high level of professional expertise and assume responsibility for professional growth and development.
- Conduct participant and family education.
- Contribute to program development, quality improvement, and productivity enhancement.
- Direct and train Specialty Instructors in prescribed therapy and instruction.
- Work as a member of the team.
- Know and enforce rules, as necessary, to ensure the health and safety of all participants.
- Be familiar with all emergency procedures and the functioning of emergency equipment.
- Administer first aid when required. Notify Program Staff or Building Supervisor immediately.
- Model our YMCA values through fun, positive relationships with staff and members. Seek every opportunity to encourage, motivate and thank fellow staff members for their work.
- Be enthusiastic toward members and staff by learning their names and expressing an interest in their YMCA activities. Strive to enrich their YMCA experience by introducing them to new programs, staff, members and volunteer activities.

- Bachelor's degree as a Physical or Occupational Therapist from an accredited college or university
- Current license as a Physical or Occupational Therapist
- Current First Aid and CPR certifications
- Experience working with youth under the age of 18
- Exceptional interpersonal skills
- Demonstrates ability to respond to critical incidents and to act swiftly in emergency situations
