General Function:
Competently instruct yoga class, implementing the proper guidelines of aerobic/group exercise. The class should be designed to improve one or more of the four components of fitness: flexibility, strength, muscular endurance, and cardio-respiratory conditioning, and to enhance the mission of the YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap Counties.
Key Responsibilities:
- Confidently lead a yoga class that uses and demonstrates current safety guidelines
- Perform aerobic/fitness moves that demonstrate different intensity levels to meet the various fitness levels of participants
- Promote a friendly and courteous environment that is consistent with the YMCA mission and values
- Create a caring, friendly, fun, and safe environment that provides opportunities for members to connect, develop relationships, and achieve their goals through YMCA membership
- 200+ qualification hours
- Yoga teaching certificate
- 6+ months of experience as a yoga instructor
- The ability to demonstrate skills and effectively lead a safe aerobic/group exercise class
- Knowledge of the fitness components of an aerobic or group exercise class
- CPR / First Aid required or within 30 days
- Completion of YMCA Healthy Life Styles & Group Exercise Foundations w/in 90 days of employment
