Youth Swim Lessons and Activities
Youth Swim Lessons
(6-12 years)
Children are in the pool in small groups, unaccompanied by a parent. For more information about youth swim lessons, contact Linda Cota at 253-534-7859.
Polliwog
Children learn breath control, floating, and swimming on front, back, and side.
Guppy
Children strengthen swimming skills and build endurance to swim 25 yards, or one length of the pool.
Minnow
Children build endurance and explore components of more advanced strokes, such as breaststroke and sidestroke.
Fish
Children learn the mechanics of more advanced strokes, and continue to develop swimming strength and endurance.
Flying Fish
Children work on perfecting all strokes, from breaststroke to butterfly. Emphasis is placed on endurance and stroke refinement, as well as exploring the competitive side of swimming.
Shark
Children build endurance and learn competitive swimming techniques.
Private Swim Lessons
Private and semi-private swim lessons are available for a fee. For more information, contact Carolyn Smith, at 253-534-7861.
Adaptive Aquatics
For swimmers with special needs, participants build self worth through water games and activities. A parent or guardian must be present on pool deck or join us in the pool.
Youth Water Polo
(11-14 years) This energetic class will emphasize swimming ability, conditioning, basic skills and teamwork. The class is open to boys and girls. Participants should be able to swim a 50 yard crawl stroke with their head up and tread water for a minute.
