Youth Land Classes

Our value based sports programs focus on improving sports skills while incorporating sportsmanship, teamwork, self-esteem, and fun. Whether the participant is a first timer or they are refining their skills, we are committed to providing opportunities of success for all. Learn how to register for classes and programs.

Ballet (5-6 years)
Learn basic ballet technique through creative movement and group activities. Parents are welcome to watch outside the room.

Sports Mix (7-13 years)
This class is designed to allow participants to try a variety of traditional sports and playground style games. Class includes warm ups, introduction to sport specific skills, and drills. Game scenarios and scrimmages are used and each class concludes with a discussion based on one of the four YMCA core values.

Sports Skills (7-13 years)
Participants learn, practice, and develop skills in one particular sport each session. This class builds off the skills taught in preschool classes and progress as the session continues. Game scenarios and scrimmages are used and each class concludes with a discussion based on one of the four YMCA core values.

Homeschool PE Class (7-18 years)
Age appropriate skill development drills are used to teach general fitness, sports, balance, rhythm, teamwork, and more. Aquatics fitness classes are also a part of this program. This program is open to all homeschooled children during the school year and is included in your YMCA membership with registration.

Martial Arts


Tae Kwon Do
(5 years and older)
Learn and execute fundamental techniques of stretching, punching, kicking, and blocking. Advanced students will learn patterns, sparring, and self-defense.

Youth Climbing Wall Classes

Climb Time
(5 years and older) This drop in program allows participants to climb the wall with staff assigned to belay. No sign up is necessary. A signed waiver is required for all participants (waiver needs to be signed by parents for any climber under 15 years).

Introduction to Rock Climbing and Belaying
(15 years and older)
Learn the safety systems of belaying, knot tying, climbing commands, and basic climbing skills through hands-on climbing activities. Fee: $10

Fit Climb Classes
(5-18 years)
Participants are divided into age groups and learn basic climbing skills. A parent signed waiver is required.

Open Climb
(5 years and older)
Members can sign up to climb the wall. Participants must provide their own YMCA certified belayer 15 years or older. Completion of Introduction to Rock Climbing and Belaying Class is required. No staff is provided during this time. All participants must sign the required waiver.
