“It eased the transition of moving across the country for us, knowing that our daughter was happy, having fun, and making new friends,” her mother Becky Caboot says.

PROVIDING A NURTURiNG ENVIRONMENT

Community need
43% of children lack the positive values needed to develop successfully for their wellbeing today and for the future.

YMCA meets the need
We believe that all kids deserve the opportunity to discover who they are and what they can achieve. That’s why, through the Y, thousands of youth today are cultivating the values, skills, and relationships that lead to positive behaviors, better health, and educational achievement.

Meet Lauren
Lauren, moved from Pennsylvania to Gig Harbor with her family in July 2010 when her father was stationed at Joint Base Lewis-McChord. Not knowing anyone in the area, her mom enrolled her in Y Day Camp at her elementary school so she would become familiar with her school and get to know some peers.

Once school started, Lauren saw her Y friends around school and in other activities around the community. She now attends YMCA Child Care after school a couple days a week and is making even more friends, while receiving physical activity, homework assistance, and valuesbased programming.
